Dies Irae. Something something fuck twitter something something livetweet here. Thread starts.
Don't go alone! Take Marie
marie is so pure ahhhh
So I'm at the Wilhelm/Shirou fight scene in Marie's route right now. Holy shit, just how many times did Wilhelm orgasm in this fight.
these two, lmao
A rare combat sprite of Shirou 👀
YEAHH SHIROU MAH MAN
Sidenote: Actually yeah, I don't really like Kei, and while Shirou had an exaggerating tone there, he unironically channeled my feelings toward Kei pretty well, lol. Kasumi is also pretty bad, but at least her only issue is that she's too irrelevant to the main story.
So yeah, while the over-theatrical drama and fights have entertained me so far, this aspect has made playing the VN a little bit of a slog, lol.
At least Marie is VERY good though, and she makes the grind over the first half of the VN worth it.
*have superpowers and can move at supersonic speed*
*conversations that last for 7 minutes within that same supersonic speed*
You think, Ren?
I'm always a sucker with the long build + the MC finally being an equal to the big bad, lol
Whew that was a nice fight. A fitting final battle indeed.
Alright! Finished Marie's route (although I still technically need to read the Other Story). It's pretty good! My favorite route so far, definitely helped by the fact that it's heroine doesn't suck for once, lol.
WHAT THAT'S AU MODERN DAY RUSALKA??
peropero ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
At Rea's route now. And ahhh, I don't really like Samiel's fights. She talks too much, lol.
Didn't post this at the time when I was reading this scene, but man Machina is sure one cool customer
also new rusalka battle CG!
Yeah, speaking of Rusalka, I missed posting this one too (was kinda in a rush this route, lol).
But yeah, legs 👀
👀 👀 👀
chuuni vn is good guys
but how do you have heels if you don't have limbs? 🤔
Okay, fight scene over, lol.
Man it's been a while since I've been THIS excited /reading/ a fight scene.
I "scream" in caps lock a lot in my livetweets but it's hard to put into the words the tone of the fights.
And tbh, while I still don't know what to think of Dies Irae atm, it's very blatant in what it's going for, and really put all it's effort into those when it matters -- those being, chuuni anime fights. They're so good that I don't even care about the story during the fight scenes, lol.
Superpowers is great and all, but sometimes there's also magic in the simplicity of a slugfest.
It's not a sex scene, Mercurius
Now that I'm almost done with Rea's route and in retrospect, I really like the way Dies Irae ups the ante according to which route you're currently at, character growth is also in disparity across all the routes.
In Kasumi's route, barely anything happened. Ren could barely use his Creation Figment and none of the Three Battalion Commanders even made an appearance.
In Kei's route, Ren could finally use his Creation Figment properly. They managed to beat each of the Three Battalion Commanders (with lots of luck, fluke, coincidences and asterisks, lol). But couldn't even touch Reinhard, and it ended before it even started getting interesting.
Marie's route is perhaps the story's peak in the context of a "Normal End". They legit managed to beat the Battalion Commanders each one-on-one. And Ren reached the ultimate degree of Ewigkeit, Atziluth and become Reinhard's equal; all while never losing his humanity. It doesn't have a super happy ending, but the extra story rectified that as much as it can possibly manage in that aspect.
I haven't finish Rea's route, but it seems to go with the approach of "twisting all we've learned from previous routes". And at times, dabble in things you wouldn't have expected like LDO's infighting. It also has an extra focus in learning about the LDO characters too, even though for some of them, we pretty reaffirm that, yes, these guys are indeed irredeemable villains, lol.
This route also seems to be the (a grander scale) bad route of the VN, as quite a lot of good guys are already dead. Ren in this route also lost himself, at one point, quite literally actually, though in turn let him harnessed powers strong enough he could dominate the Battalion Commanders even if it was a 3-on-1 fight.
So yeah, Dies Irae is the epitome of slow burn, lol. Kasumi's route (ignoring the common route and just looking at her route from the point it started branching) had me yawning. Kei's route only /started/ getting interesting. And it's only until Marie's route that it started getting pretty good.
It's like a sex scene
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
SHIROU AND MACHINA WORKING TOGETHER
two evil overlords who utter chuuni lines like it's their mother tongues. Then there's that guy
BEATRICE ME ME ME
ahhhhh bar waitress rulsaka
I think I missed some scenes in between, but it's kinda funny seeing Beatrice barking suddenly out of context, lol.
Kirakiratter is an Aikatsu-themed Mastodon instance!
